Ultramarathon anyone?
Okay, here’s the deal.
Not everyone can run an ultramarathon, which many define as a 100-mile race.
And not everyone may run an ultramarathon.
Take the famous Western States 100, for example.
According to an article today online at the San Francisco Chronicle website, the Western States 100 severely limits the number of participants, especially in comparison to many marathon races that accept thousands and thousands of racers.
I snooped around at the WS100 website and learned that only 445 runners had been selected as of May 28, 2009, for its 36th race on June 27-28, 2009.
Ultramarathon or not, what is the most-participation-limited race in which you have run? Please leave a comment here. Thanks!
