Promoting fitness with a passport
Did you know that your town could use a passport to promote fitness?
That is exactly what the town of Webster, New York, has done.
No, the town on Lake Ontario does not ask participants to use a U.S. passport.
Instead, Webster created its own passport for its walking trails.
The concept is simple:
- You get a special passport from Webster Parks and Recreation.
- You follow the included maps to walk the trails around Webster.
- You mark your passport at designated posts along the trails.
When you have walked a trail, you have proof of completion in your special passport.
The Wegmans supermarket chain issues gift cards and coupons to participants who turn in passports that show completion of four, six, or ten trails.
What a great way to promote fitness!
