Goodbye, Instagram.
I used a “spryfeet” account at Instagram to post fun or inspiring graphics a few years ago. Here are some examples, which I also posted here:
Instagram makes money from advertising. Facebook owns Instagram, so Facebook makes money from Instagram-hosted advertising.
As I wrote two months ago, I left Facebook a few years ago — soon after it began to behave as a publisher in spite of its Section-230 protection.
So, I closed my Instagram account last week.
Warning: If in the future you see a “spryfeet” account at Instagram, then please note that the posts do not come from me.
Facebook long ago lost my trust. Facebook no longer deserves to earn Instagram-hosted advertising revenue from my readers’ attention.
