Please do not text-message while exercising!
A video on the Web illustrates the dangers of walking while text-messaging.
American College of Emergency Physicians has warned:
Don’t text or use a cell phone while engaged in any physical activities that require sustained attention; such activities include walking, biking, boating, rollerblading or even intermittent-contact sports such as baseball, football or soccer.
And Staten Island Advance recently reported that a Travis, New York, teen was injured when she fell into an open manhole while walking and text-messaging at the same time.
As they used to say on the TV police-drama Hill Street Blues so often that it became an American catch-phrase:
Let’s be careful out there!
Have you ever tried to send or read text messages while walking or running? What was your experience, safety-wise?
